Digital Fundraising Study Switzerland 2016

At the RaiseNow Inspire! event in September we already presented some important findings from the second Digital Fundraising Study Switzerland 2016. Now the study is available for free to everyone who wants to know how Swiss people donate via digital channels.

For the Digital Fundraising Study 2016, we analyzed almost 120’000 donations (transactions) with a total volume of more than 12.5 million francs from over 100 organizations in the year 2015. The most interesting question naturally was: How has the quota of digital donations compared to the total volume of donations changed? Has it increased? Fallen? The result is an increase by 2.55 percent. Our CEO Marco Zaugg comments: «The positive trend from last year has been confirmed. Again, we have a two-digit growth in volume in the quota of digital fundraising, even though this increase is a bit lower than expected.»

Further key learnings from the #DFS16: The most popular weekday for donations in the year 2015 was Wednesday and the favorite payment method was credit card. Another important finding commented here by Marco Zaugg: «The biggest surprise revealed by the Digital Fundraising Study 2016 was the confirmation of our thesis that recurring donations with a monthly interval result in a notably higher yearly sum than those with a yearly interval.» Also regarding the Retention Rate there is a noticeable trend in the #DFS16.
